Q. How do I use the VitaMist® products? A. You should spray the product onto the inside of the cheeks (try to leave about 30 seconds before swallowing). You should spray once on each side of the cheek, four times per day. Q. Why are the doses of the Prenatal Spray so low compared to the Adult Multiple? A. VitaMist® Prenatal was designed to be used in conjunction with the Adult Multiple Spray. Together, expecting mothers can obtain a desirable level of vitamin supplementation. During pregnancy it is often difficult to keep down pills; the spray technology solves this problem. A. We do not "add" elements such as arsenic, mercury, and lead in the Colloidal Minerals Spray. The body requires trace amounts of many different elements for proper functioning. In our product, the levels of many of the trace minerals about which people are concerned are VERY low and almost undetectable. Because of the nature of the minerals (the fact that they are colloidal - wrapped in a sheath of organic material) they are not believed to be harmful to the body. In fact, you will find minerals such as arsenic in many fruits and vegetables, and also in other colloidal mineral preparations which are on the market. It is when minerals are in metallic form that they are considered harmful and can accumulate in the body. Q. What is the difference between the Grape Seed and Pine Bark Sprays and the Anti-Oxidant Spray? A. The Anti-Oxidant Spray contains the anti-oxidant vitamins, vitamin A, vitamin B3, vitamin C, and vitamin E. On the other hand, the Grape Seed and Pine Bark Sprays contain a natural plant extract which includes proanthocyanidin, a very effective, natural antioxidant. Yes, they both would function in a similar manner in the body. But, some people would choose one product over another based on their personal knowledge of nutrition. Q. How much does each container provide? A. Each tube of VitaMist® spray delivers approximately 240 metered sprays. If the product is used at the recommend rate of 8 sprays per day (2 sprays, four times per day) each tube provides a 30 day supply. Q. How long will a product last unopened? A. The shelf life of the Sprays is two years unopened from the date of shipment from our facility in Phoenix, USA. Opened, the Sprays are best when used within 6 months. Q. What is "DV" and how does it compare to standard "RDA?" A. The DV, RDA, and US RDI terms generate much confusion. The following is extracted from information published by the USDA: "The Daily Values are standard values developed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use on food labels. In creating the Daily Values, the FDA first established two sets of reference values. The first set, the Reference Daily Intakes (RDI), are for proteins, vitamins, and minerals and reflect average allowances based on the RDA. The second set, the Daily Reference Values (DRV), are for nutrients and food components, such as fat and fiber, that do not have an established RDA but do have important relationships with health. Together, the RDI and DRV make up the Daily Values used on food labels." So, in essence, DV is a new (1997) term for the combination of RDI and RDA. The DV term appears on all food labels. Q. What combination of VitaMist® products should I take to help treat a specific illness? A. As you are aware, VitaMist®'s vitamin and mineral products are classified as dietary food supplements. If the labeling or accompanying or associated literature made any preventive, curative, or remedial claims, VitaMist® products would be reclassified as drugs and subject to entirely different regulations by the FDA. Accordingly, the Company makes a concerted effort to avoid making any type of claim that its products can be used for the prevention or treatment of any human ailment, infirmity, injury, or defect. Q. Where are the minerals obtained that are in the Colloidal Minerals product? A. The colloidal minerals that we use are extracted from humic shale deposits found in Utah (in the USA). These deposits originate from plant material which existed some 75 million years ago. The minerals we find in the colloidal mineral extract were present in those plants and reflect the soil composition in prehistoric times. Q. Why is the dose of vitamin C low in the C+Zinc product? A. In the case of vitamin C, the current EC RDA is 60mg. So our product provides 10% of this requirement. However, due to the superior absorption rate achieved by our method of delivery, we expect close to 100% of this dose to enter the blood stream. Therefore, higher doses are not required to receive a beneficial effect. Q. Why is Vitamin D present in the CalMag Spray? A. CalMag is a supplement containing an herbal extract (the herbs are listed on the label) with the addition of calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D. It is designed as a dietary supplement to provide soluble and readily available calcium and magnesium in the correct proportions - thus maintaining a steady supply of these essential electrolytes. The product does not provide 100% of the EC RDA. This would be impossible in spray form. Vitamin D is present because it is a significant aid in the absorption of calcium from other sources and it is a highly recommended nutrient, especially for elderly people. Q. Do the VitaMist® Pet Products get the same absorption rate as the rest of the Sprays or are they sublingual? A. With cats and dogs, because we can't get them to spray and wait before swallowing, we will have a mixture of buccal absorption, sublingual absorption, and absorption from the digestive tract.
